Meet Our Team at Leading Edge Chiropractic

Our team is the heart of Leading Edge Chiropractic known as Holmen’s favorite chiropractic practice. We’re a tight-knit group dedicated to welcoming every patient like family.

Dr. Chad Updike, D.C. Gonstead Chiropractor

Born and raised in Trempealeau, WI, Dr. Chad earned his B.S. from UW–La Crosse before completing his chiropractic degree at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. With over 350 hours of advanced Gonstead System training and 8 years in practice, he brings precision and genuine care to every patientincluding a Clinic Abroad trip to Hyderabad, India, where his team cared for over 5,000 patients in just five days, shaping his belief that great chiropractic should be accessible, impactful, and rooted in real human connection.

Dr. Katie Canar, D.C. Gonstead Chiropractor

Born and raised in Galesville, WI, Dr. Katie’s love for chiropractic began in childhood watching her dad recover from a cervical disc herniation and knowing, even then, that this was her calling. She graduated summa cum laude from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 2015, has since completed hundreds of hours of continuing education through the Gonstead Methodology Institute, and is Webster Certified to provide safe, gentle prenatal and pediatric chiropractic care. Outside the office, she serves as President of the Blue Angels Gymnastics Club Board, volunteers as a weekly coach, and is mom to Rylee, Bowen, and Kade who you’ll likely spot running through the office sooner or later.

Brooke Riddle, Office Manager & Insurance Specialist

Since 2010, she has been serving patients in the chiropractic field with both knowledge and heart. After earning her Doctorate of Chiropractic in 2016, she continued her passion for patient care and now serves as the Office Manager and Insurance Specialist at Leading Edge Chiropractic. Her deep understanding of the industry allows her to confidently guide patients through their insurance questions while ensuring the office runs smoothly behind the scenes.

Her favorite part of the day is being up front, connecting with patients, and building relationships. She believes a chiropractic office should feel welcoming and personal, like family, and she strives to make every patient feel known and cared for from the moment they walk through the door. She is known for her unwavering optimism, contagious laugh, and bright smile that truly lights up a room.

Outside the office, she enjoys life with her husband, Andrew, a construction business owner, and their two dogs, Tank and Stella, and their cat, Goose. She also holds close the memory of her son, Owen, who is in heaven. In her free time, she loves spending time with family and friends, trying new restaurants, listening to live music, and tending to her garden, which somehow produces more peppers and tomatoes than anyone could possibly need each year. Feel free to break the ice by asking about her flowering “potatoes” in 2025!

She looks forward to welcoming you as a new patient at Leading Edge Chiropractic and walking alongside you in your health journey. From your very first visit, she is excited to build a lasting relationship with you, not just as a patient, but as part of the Leading Edge family.

Maddy Melby, Lead Laser Technician

I’m the Lead Laser Tech at Leading Edge Chiropractic, where I primarily work hands-on with patients using the Aspen Laser to help them heal, recover, and get back to doing what they love. I guide patients through their laser therapy sessions and educate them on how the treatment supports tissue healing and reduces inflammation.

I love watching patients progress, whether that’s seeing someone regain mobility, decrease pain, or simply feel hopeful again in their healing journey. Because I spend so much one-on-one time with patients, building trust and connection is a huge part of what I do. I strive to make every session comfortable, encouraging, and personalized so patients feel confident and supported throughout their care.

When I’m not in laser sessions, you’ll usually find me up front helping with customer service and making sure every patient feels welcomed and cared for from the moment they walk in. Whether it’s answering questions, coordinating schedules, or greeting someone by name with a smile, I believe the patient experience starts the second they enter the office. My goal is to help create an environment that feels organized, positive, and uplifting — because healing happens best when people feel truly cared for.

I grew up doing gymnastics and dance and tried just about every ball sport along the way — let’s just say coordination in those areas wasn’t exactly my strength. Fun fact: Dr. Katie was actually my coach growing up and all four years of high school. I’m one of four siblings — one older and two younger (two brothers and one sister). I’m especially close with my sister since we share similar hobbies, including our love for shopping — especially when it’s someone else’s money. I feel so fortunate to have been born into a family that loves to travel, and I’ve been blessed to visit incredible places like the Bahamas, Mexico, Costa Rica, Florida, Alabama, and New York.

Outside of work, I love hanging out with friends, planning group dinners, and being social. You can usually win me over with Chick-fil-A or a night out to eat, and I’ll never turn down a Moscow mule or a margarita. I’m all about good food, good drinks, great company, and making the most of every moment.

Stephanie Gilliland, Patient Care Coordinator

I love helping people explore the services we offer and find the right plan so they can truly feel their best. My role is all about guiding patients through their experience – helping them understand their options, answering questions, connecting the dots between their goals and the care we provide, and making sure they feel supported every step of the way. Whether that’s helping someone get started, fine-tuning their care plan, or simply being a steady, familiar face they can turn to, I’m here to help make the whole process feel clear, personal, and encouraging.

I firmly believe the body is designed to heal itself when given the right tools, and since we only get one life, we might as well live it fully. When we feel our best, we can give our best – to ourselves and the people we love most. What we offer here is truly different and the missing link for so many people who have been searching for real answers! If I’m not at the front desk, there’s a very good chance I’m somewhere in the office reorganizing something that was already organized.

I’ll never turn down pizza or chips and queso. If you ever see me willingly eating fruits or vegetables, consider it a rare sighting (honestly…don’t hold your breath).

Outside the office, you’ll usually find me in the bleachers cheering on my favorite people. I’m married to a professional saddle bronc rider (yes, he willingly chooses to sit on the back of a bucking horse – I’ll never understand, it takes a special breed of human) – so if you’ve ever wondered what life is like living in a van, traveling the country, as a family of four plus a full-grown black lab … we have stories. I wouldn’t miss watching our son compete – whether that’s on the wrestling mat, on the baseball field (where my nerves officially leave my body the second he gets called to the pitching mound), or climbing onto the back of a steer in the bucking chutes like it’s just another normal day. Same with our daughter – as a mom of a teenage girl, I’m here to say the teen years are pretty amazing. If we’re not cheering her on at gymnastics, she’s throwing a breakaway rope, designing her next set of nails or slinging gummies like they’re going out of style (truly committed to keeping the candy industry thriving).

My favorite hobby is simply being home – it’s my happy place. A close second is our home away from home in Arizona, soaking up sunshine and making memories with grandparents (and yes it’s true, I’m nicer when I’m tan).

Angie Simonson, Laser Technician & Wellness Coach

By heart I am a natural educator and lifelong learner. My passion for empowering others is evident as a laser technician, in my 2nd grade classroom and as a mental wellness coach. I truly am blessed to have more than one job that I love!

Currently, I’m working on dual certifications in Hormone Health and Gut Health. I am always reading books about holistic health and listening to podcasts. If you want to know about any wellness gadget, protein shake, electrolyte, supplement, workout or yoga class I have probably tried it and am willing to share my review with you.

I never take for granted time with my husband, Jeff. We went through infertility for many years. That silent struggle brought us closer to each other and an understanding of how life doesn’t always go as planned. We share our home with our fur baby, Mocha, who holds us accountable for a daily walk.

Every winter we travel to the tropics to enjoy the warmth of the sunshine, quiet moments by the beach, and set new goals for the life we get to live. You will also find me writing in my gratitude journal, reading a daily devotional, at country concerts, or cheering on our nieces and nephew. Giving back to others by volunteering and being involved in Rotary grounds me in service above self.

I have a passion for making connections to support others on their journey to be their best self. On Sunday mornings, I listen to worship music and meal prep for the week. We waste more groceries than we should because I am always trying new foods and recipes from Pinterest. Whether it be habit stacking, cleaner alternatives, mindfulness, organizing, decluttering or creating a to-do list, I’d love to chat about actionable steps to be a healthier, happier you!
